WW I Radio interprets the history of WW I and recreates radio broadcasts of events involving the war.
World War One also known as the First World War, and the Great War was the first of two major global shooting wars in the twentieth century.
The main causes of World War I, which began in the Balkans in late July 1914, included factors, such as Militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism.
While the immediate spark that started the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife Sophie, by the time of the assassination, Europe was such a powder keg, that sooner or later one of the many tensions were bound to set it off.
WW I Radio is an attempt to recreate radio reports, flashes and interviews with the news-makers of the time in a format and style of those very early days of radio.
Our attempt is to be as accurate as possible, however due to the extremely limited amount of actual broadcast recordings of any kind, much of our recordings and reports are total recreations.
We hope you will find this an enlightening way to bring this important historical flash-point to life.
Please feel free to donate and help keep this effort going.
Cheers !!
